Compôte
COMPÔTE / in Gallery G in Helsinki / 2021
Compôte or kompot is a sweet and delicious drink from my country: it has sugar and big lumps of fruits, and it brings me back to my childhood where grandma served it to us during the chilly wintertime. My exhibition is designed to be like a big mug of kompot, where visitors can dip in from the cold Helsinki streets. Little delicious cubes and other tiny surprises wait in every corner to be discovered and tasted!
I view the exhibition space as a drinking glass, where different works, pieces and objects flow in like a liquid – flexibly but completely filling it. It is not so much a collection of separate works than one entity, in which the space itself plays an essential part. Respecting the space is something I have grown into through my work with film and slide projections; it is the form of their shadows that I have tried to capture in the lines of my graphics.
Welcome to enjoy a warm sip of kompot!
