The TEOS 2018 show is based on the idea that art is a tool that helps us live. The purpose of this tool is, for example, to calm the mind, or remind us of important things and feelings.
At the event, the works have been set up according to what kind of tools they could be for the viewer. For example, Leikki and Ilo are tools for excessive severity, while Suru has tools for sharing the sorrow. There are a dozen different themes in the exhibition, where the viewer can find suitable tools for his own life.
The concept and exhibition architecture has been designed by Finnish architect and sculptor Maija Kovari. The theme of the exhibition as an art tool is based on the ideas of art by the Swiss-British philosopher Alain de Botton.
This year, we will also challenge the audience for hanging books. During the exhibition a few works move from the theme department to another audience's experience. On the Facebook page of the event, you can vote on the most appropriate theme for the selected works of art on a daily basis. The work changes place after the vote is over.
Come and see what the new TEOS 2018 looks like. See you at the Cable Factory
